Element Post add new facilities
01 Jul 2016 :
IFTN catches up with Element Post's Chriona O'Sullivan on their fantastic new grading suite and she talks us through some of the projects they have been involved with recently, from series to documentaries and more.

What have Element Post been working on over the past year?

In terms of Broadcast we got to work on the show of the year so far – ‘Room to Improve!’ The public’s reaction to the series this year was phenomenal. We have a great relationship with Coco Television and it was lovely to work with editors of such calibre as Stevi Vickers & Orla Daly.

Along with our longstanding commitment to ‘CrimeCall’ which we have worked on for many years we also did the full post on ‘Pixie’s Sex Clinic’ which was onlined by Diarmuid Kelly and which allowed our Graphics Dept to animate genitalia which is always good fun.

Prior to floating down the Thames to have a row with Nigel Farage, Sir Bob Geldof was in with us for his passion project, ‘A Fanatic Heart - Geldof on Yeats’ which was cut by Derek Holland & Emer O’Cleary. As well as airing in 2 parts on RTE 1, we also supplied copy to BBC 1 & BBC 4 for a one off special.

‘Hidden Impact’, the concussion documentary, was onlined with us by our own Diarmuid Kelly while John Sullivan, formally of H2 Films and Speade in London joined us to head up our Digital Content Production as well as dealing with all things commercial. With Locky Butler Sound located in our offices we can now offer end to end post solutions.

And finally, we got to work on ‘The Story of Yes’ which was very much a passion project for us all here with the lovely Hugh Rogers & Zlata Filiopvic. The press and online reaction that night and days after was just wonderful.

Can you tell us a little about the new grading suite at your facilities?

The grading suite is the single biggest investment in the business since we moved to Fitzwilliam Sq ten years ago. We have just completed a beautiful new space which houses our new 4K DaVinci Resolve along with 2 viewing areas and a 75” 4K viewing monitor. In the four days it has been in operation we have already graded for Sure, Robinsons & the University of Phoenix so it seems to be taking off!

In the ever-changing world of post-production, what areas do Element Post plan to invest in in the future?

Since January we have added four new offline suites and a new grading suite so the next step now that the building work is done its time to give the place a spruce up!
