Wee Bun Films and Ripple World Pictures have launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to help raise the last funding needed to get the film into production this summer.

The film is set to be directed by Conor McIvor (‘Cup Cake’) and attached cast includes Art Parkinson (‘Game of Thrones’), Toby Jones (‘The Girl’), Ian O’Reilly (‘Moone Boy’), Barry Ward (‘Rebellion’), Ian McElhinney (‘Game of Thrones’) and Amy Huberman (‘Stardust’). Producers are Katy Jackson & John Leslie (Wee Buns Films) and Dominic Wright & Jacquelin Kerrin (Ripple World Pictures).

‘ZOO’ tells the true story of how in 1941 during the Belfast Blitz a woman secretly walked a young elephant from Belfast Zoo each evening to the backyard of her terraced home. There, she cared for and comforted it as the Luftwaffe bombs rained down over Belfast. Seen through the eyes of 12 year old Tom, aided and abetted by his misfit friends, this adventure unfolds as Tom takes on the fight to save Buster the elephant.

The producers have partnered with the International Elephant Foundation to help raise awareness of conservational work with Asian elephants and their partner charities.

Recent credits of Ripple World Pictures include ‘Ghosthunters: On Icy Trails’, which received an Best VFX IFTA nomination while their film ‘Moon Dogs’ has recently wrapped in post-production. Past credits of Wee Bun Films include the award-winning short ‘Charlotte’s Red’ as well as the feature film ‘Cup Cake’.
