SDGI launch fourth season of Wash Your Eyes with focus on Episodic Television

This year’s particular focus is on episodic television and international opportunities for Irish directors
The Screen Directors Guild of Ireland has launched Season 4 four of Wash Your Eyes with this year’s particular focus on episodic television and international opportunities for Irish directors.

Experienced UK executives will come to Dublin to discuss key trends in TV drama production, the commissioning process, and broadcaster requirements.

Beginning on Thursday, June 16th at the Odessa, Episode one of this programme will be Television Development with Lizzie Gray. Gray is Commissioning Editor for Sky and has produced a number of TV series including Waterloo Road, Venus vs. Mars, and You, Me and the Apocalypse, she has also worked as a Script Editor at BBC Scotland's River City for several years and as a Script Executive on Fortitude. Lizzie will talk about the requirements for the development of TV Topics and the commissioning process.

The second episode of Wash Your Eyes will take place on Thursday, July 21st and will be Key Trends in Episodic Drama with Kenton Allen. Allen is the Chief Executive of Big Talk Productions and an award-winning programme-maker with credits including the Oscar-winning ‘Six Shooter’ and BAFTA Award-winning sitcoms ‘Rev’ and ‘The Royle Family’. He has also produced and executive-produced a diverse range of comedy programming including the BAFTA-winning sketch show ‘That Mitchell and Webb Look’ (BBC Two), and the BAFTA-nominated drama series ‘Funland’ (BBC Three). Kenton will discuss making television drama in Ireland and the UK and the opportunities available for directors in television.
