Dead Pan's 'Halal Daddy'
2016-06-08 10:30 :
Production has begun this week on Dead Pan Productions’ ‘Halal Daddy’ in Sligo.

The film is co-written by Conor McDermottroe (Swansong: The Story of Occi Byrne, 2009) and Mark O’Halloran (Viva, Adam and Paul), directed by Sligo native Conor McDermottroe, and produced by Ailish Bracken of Dead Pan Productions.

From the Florion Film website: Inspired by true events, this culture-clash comedy about Ireland’s first Halal meat factory tells the story of young British Muslim Raghdan Aziz’s struggle to manage a rundown abattoir in the West of Ireland while dealing with racist fathers, stoned buddies, gay Germans, and a furious ex-girlfriend. If he pulls it off, he’ll be killed by his ex’s Dad. If he fails, he’ll be killed by his own. Anyways, he’s f**ked. Welcome to Sligo, Ireland!

The Irish/German co-production shoots for five weeks in Sligo and will post in Germany.

Writer / Director: Conor McDermottroe
Writer: Mark O’Halloran
Producers: Hermann Florin, Ailish McElmeel (Deadpan Pictures Ltd)
Production Companies: Florin Film & Fernsehproduktion GmbH, Benrae Florin Film, Deadpan Pictures Ltd
Partners: Irish Film Board, Eurimages, Post-Perfect, Koch Media, Global Screen
