Current IFTA nominated Hair Designer Dee Corcoran (‘Vikings’) will be the trainer in an Introduction to Hairdressing on a Film/TV Set course on May 28th. The course is being run with the support of the County Wicklow Film Commission and Screen Training Ireland.
Dee Corcoran, current Head of the Hair Department on ‘Vikings’ in Ashford, is celebrating a massive eleven IFTA nominations this year. She has went home with the award on four occasions – twice for ‘The Tudors’, once for ‘King Arthur’ and once for ‘Vikings’. She has also received two Primetime Emmy nominations for her work on ‘The Tudors’ and other credits of hers include ‘Leap Year’, ‘Veronica Guerin’, ‘Camelot’, ‘Tara Road’ and ‘The Butcher Boy’.
The aim of this pilot course is to provide each participant with an idea of what it is like to work in the hair department on a film/TV set. The workshop gives a clear understanding of the demands of hair dressing for film and television and will cover:
- Overview of the production process
- In the studio: Description of each department
- Script breakdown
- Continuity in hair styles for film
- A typical day on set
- Mood boards with examples of styles / wigs
- How to get working in this growing industry
There are 10 places available for the course which is aimed at qualified hair dressers wanting to get into the industry. The cost is €50 and the course will take place at Wicklow County Campus, Rathnew on Saturday 28th May, 2016 between 9.30am – 5.00pm. Applications for this course should be made directly through the Wicklow Local Enterprise Office.
