The Galway Film Fleadh is now accepting Short-Film submissions for the 2016 edition of the festival, which will run from 5th – 10th July.
The Galway Film Fleadh is an Oscar qualifying festival for the Academy Awards Short Film Category. Winners of the James Horgan award for best animation and the Tiernan McBride Award for best short drama will qualify for consideration without the standard theatrical run.
The Fleadh platforms excellence in Short Film and provides a platform for the best in new and established filmmakers in Ireland.
They present awards in the following categories:
- The James Horgan Award for Best Animation
The Donal Gilligan Award for Best Cinematography in a short film in association with the Irish Society of Cinematographers (ISC)
- The Best First Short Animation Award in association with Cartoon Saloon
The Best Short Documentary Award
- The Don Quixote Award is awarded for animation in a short film
- The award for Best Animated Sequence in a short film
- The One Minute Film Festival Award
The deadline for short film entries is Friday May 20th at 5pm, and the entry fee is €20. The director and/or producer of the film must be of Irish origin in order to qualify. To view the full list of rules and regulations and to submit a film, please visit this page.
