Lead actor Pat Shortt
New comedy film ‘The Flag’, from the same creative team behind ‘Pure Mule’ and ‘Eden’, has begun its’ five week shoot.

‘The Flag’ tells the story of a builder (Pat Shortt) who pulls off a daring heist to reclaim the Irish flag of the 1916 revolution from its’ home in an army barracks in the UK. Eugene O’Brien (‘Eden’, ‘Pure Mule’) wrote the script and Declan Recks (‘The Truth Commissioner’, ‘Eden’, ‘Pure Mule’) is slated to direct with the film being produced by ‘Viva’ producers Rob Walpole and Rebecca O’Flanagan of Treasure Entertainment.

The film received the highest funding this quarter (€550,000) in the latest round of the Irish Film Board’s Production, Distribution and Development funding scheme.

The film also stars Moe Dunford, Ruth Bradley and Brian Gleeson. Both Dunford and Bradley received nominations for this year’s IFTA Film & Drama Awards; Bradley received nominations for both Best Actress Film (‘Pursuit’) and Best Actress Drama (‘Rebellion’) while Dunford was nominated for Supporting Actor Drama for ‘Vikings’. The DoP of the film is Cathal Watters', who was also recently IFTA nominated for shooting Paddy Breathnach's 'Viva'.

Director Declan Recks has also recently helmed ‘The Truth Commissioner’ which was released to Irish cinemas by Wildcard Distribution and aired on BBC 2 Northern Ireland last week. Cine Electric is providing the lighting equipment.
