Fortissimo Films has acquired the global rights (excluding the UK and Sweden) to ‘Stockholm My Love’ helmed by Northern Irish director Mark Cousins.
Cousins current film ‘I Am Belfast’ – a documentary portraying Belfast as a free spirited woman and a walking tour guide – will be released to UK cinemas on April 8th and has so far screened at Belfast, Karlovy Vary and the Galway Film Fleadh to critical acclaim.
‘Stockholm My Love’ will be Cousins first feature length leap into fiction. It revolves around architect Alva Diop (Nenah Cherry) who loves architecture and the way buildings influence people's lives but who no longer feels like a participant in her own life following a road traffic accident she was involved in that killed a man.
Cousins has penned the script along with Anita Oxburgh who also produced. Christopher Doyle, who was the DoP on ‘I Am Belfast’, will shoot the film – which has received backing from the Swedish Film Institute as well as BBC Films, Creative Scotland and Filmcapital Stockholm. Migma Films and Bofa Prods will produce.
