Irish actress Saoirse Ronan has won yet another award for her performance in ‘Brooklyn’ with the New York Film Critics Circle naming her Best Actress.
Saoirse has so far won an award at the Hollywood Film Awards and she is due to be feted at both the Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival early next year. She has also been nominated for Best Actress at the Satellite Awards as well as the British Independent Film Awards.
‘Brooklyn’ is in cinemas now with many publications predicting the actress will receive her second Oscar nomination for her performance as a young Irish immigrant in 1950’s New York who is torn between two men and two countries.
The Hollywood Reporter wrote that “veteran adolescent phenom Ronan works wonders with this exceptional transitional role” and The Guardian described her performance as “marvellous”.
Ronan has previously been Oscar- nominated for ‘Atonement’ – a role that also landed her a Golden Globe nomination. Closer to home and Ronan is one of Ireland’s most decorated actresses winning IFTA Awards for her performances in ‘Atonement’, ‘Death Defying Acts’, ‘The Lovely Bones’, ‘The Way Back’, ‘Hanna’ and ‘Byzantium’.
