Animated kids series ‘Puffin Rock’ has been nominated for two Kidscreen Awards.

The series, which comes from Kilkenny-based animation studio Cartoon Saloon, Derry-based children’s media company Dog Ears and global publisher Penguin, has been nominated in the categories of Best New Series and Best Animated Series.

‘Puffin Rock’ is set on a beautiful island off the coast of Ireland. Oona is a charismatic and plucky young puffling, who along with her ever-curious little brother Baba, explores the diverse array of sea, sky, land and underground creatures. The series introduces a combination of preschool themes and soft natural history learnings to young viewers. The series is narrated in English by Chris O’Dowd (‘Moone Boy’, ‘The IT Crowd’).

The Kidscreen Awards, now in its seventh edition, single out and celebrate the year’s best work in kids television programming and broadcasting, as well as digital media. Held as part of the Kidscreen Summit in Miami, the ceremony will take place on February 9th. The shortlisted group will now be reviewed and assessed by panels of professional judges.

Puffin Rock was financed by the Irish Film Board, Northern Ireland Screen, RTÉ, Nickelodeon UK, HOP! And YLE.
