Animation Dingle will take place in March 2016
Animation Dingle is now accepting submissions from both professionals and students. This is open to all forms of animation and there will be a competition for student’s works.

Animation Dingle is an annual event each March, that comes together to celebrate the best Animation Features, Series and Shorts that the Irish and International Animation industry has to offer. Animation Dingle is a major component of the Dingle International Film Festival, running jointly alongside the main event for the last four years, now established as a core component of its screenings, speakers and activities.

This year Animation Dingle will host an Awards Ceremony for student animated film. Awards will include: Best Irish Student Award; Best International Student Award; Best Design/Art Direction; Best Director; Best Writer; Best Music/Sound Design; The WIP Award (work in progress); Best VFX (visual effects) ; Best Character Animation; Best Cinematography; Best 2D animation; Best 3D CGI animation; Best Stopmotion animation; Best combined animation.

Selected films will form part of Animation Dingle's screening programmes of animation from Ireland and Europe. There will be an animation conference with Irish & International presentations, a Sketch Day, Portfolio Pitching session and more - see www.animationdingle.com for details closer to the time.

In 2015 Animation Dingle hosted Ireland's first ever Animation Awards ceremony presented by Animation Ireland, The next IAAs will be in 2017. Animation Dingle is home to the Murakami Award for animation, (recipients including Jimmy T. Murakami, Richie Baneham and Tomm Moore). The Festival has had presentations from Disney, Nickelodeon, Walker Books, Penguin, Scholastic, RTE, CBBC, Cartoon Saloon, JAM Media, Brown Bag Films, Kavaleer, Treehouse Republic, Salty Dog Pictures and Geronimo.

Murakami Award recipient and Oscar winner Richie Baneham (‘Avatar’, ‘The Lord of the Rings’ Trilogy) said: "Having been to many interesting film events over the years I can honestly say with hand on my heart the Dingle film festival is by far the best craic I've ever had at a film festival. This may have been influenced by Dingle's scenic beauty, the fantastic company or my pride in receiving the Murakami Award. When The Wind Blows was a major reason for my becoming an animator".

Early Deadline is November 6th and the final Deadline is December 18th 2015.
