‘Dead Along The Way’, a new feature film from Maurice O'Carroll, will begin shooting in Laois and Dublin later this week.

The gritty crime comedy follows the antics of two wedding videographers who are desperately trying to hide a corpse before a wedding.

Written and directed by Maurice O’Carroll in his feature film debut, the film stars Ciarán Bermingham (‘Game of Thrones’), Tom Lawlor (father of IFTA-winning actor Tom Vaughan Lawlor) and Niall Murphy (‘Dracula Untold’).

Maurice is producing this with his wife Elaine O' Carroll as well as Cork born actor/producer Sinéad O'Riordan (Stolen, Coming Out, The Bible Basher) from ORion Productions.

The movie will be a first feature-length drama for the award-winning Kerry filmmaker Maurice, who is originally from Tralee and now lives in Laois. He has chosen a range of locations in Laois and Dublin for the film shoot.

With a few days to go before principal photography begins, Maurice paid tribute to the Laois community and venues that helped get the venture off the ground: “I am very excited to be shooting this in Laois and we have been very fortunate to have the local community here and indeed in Tralee, rally behind us and help us out.”

Producer O’Riordan - who will also star in the film – said: “I am thrilled to be working alongside Maurice and Elaine again. This film has been dinner conversation for a long time and now, here we are making it a reality. We work extremely well together and I have no doubt the finished product will be superb. Our funds are extremely limited, but it's not holding us back and we ever thankful to the cast and crew for lending us their time and talents.”

Other cast members include Ben Condron, Donna Patrice, Kevin McCormack, Sinéad O'Riordan, Gail Brady, Jeff Doyle, Cora Fenton, Elaine Kennedy, Tara Downes, Zeb Moore, Gerard Lee, Paula Lee and John Magee.
