‘You’re Ugly Too’, the acclaimed feature debut from Irish director Mark Noonan, is to screen in Los Angeles on Friday, August 21st as part of the Director’s Finders Series.

The Finders Series, conceived by the Directors Guild of America and facilitated by the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland, presents an Irish director with an opportunity to showcase their film and to have direct access to decision makers in the film distribution process in the US. The awards spotlight works of fiction, documentary or drama feature submissions from Irish directors who have not secured U.S. distribution of their films.

‘You’re Ugly Too’ writer-director Mark Noonan will fly out for the screening on August 21st and will engage in a week of meetings with Hollywood influencers to secure distribution for the film and to plan future projects. Previous films to have secured US distribution through the Finders Series award include Ian Power’s ‘The Runway’ and Tomm Moore and Nora Twomey’s ‘The Secret of Kells’.

‘You’re Ugly Too’ was produced by John Keville and Conor Barry for Savage Productions and was written and directed by Mark Noonan. The film was funded by the Irish Film Board and tells the story of Will, who is released from prison on compassionate leave to care for his niece Stacey after the death of her mother.

The film has so far won the Best First Feature Prize at the Galway Film Fleadh and the Best Screenplay award at the Skip City International D-Cinema Festival in Japan. It was also nominated for the Best First Feature Award at the Berlinale Festival, where it premiered in official selection in February.
