UTV Ireland to broadcast ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ TV Series
21 Jul 2015 : Seán Brosnan
The series will consist of five half-hour programmes looking at entrepreneurship in Ireland
The EY Entrepreneur of The Year (EOY) series will broadcast exclusively on UTV Ireland and UTV this coming autumn.

Beginning in September, the series will profile the 2015 EOY finalists who have displayed exceptional entrepreneurial skills and business acumen in recent years throughout Ireland and punch above their weight internationally.

The series will consist of five half-hour programmes looking at entrepreneurship in Ireland, as well as detailing the stories behind each of this year’s finalists.

The show is being produced by Loosehorse and is currently being filmed.

The series will culminate with the announcement of the 2015 EY Entrepreneur of the Year winner at an awards ceremony taking place at City West Hotel on October 22nd and broadcast as a one-hour special, exclusively on UTV Ireland and UTV.

The business awards programme is divided into three categories – Emerging, Industry and International – with eight finalists chosen per category. The 24 finalists were selected by an independent panel of judges made up of former EOY winners and chaired by businesswoman Anne Heraty, CEO of CPL Resources Plc.

Paul Young, Tomm Moore and Nora Twomey under their company Cartoon Saloon are nominated in the industry category. They are behind animated films such as 'The Secret of Kells' and 'Song of the Sea'(in Irish cinemas now) as well as the television series 'Puffin Rock'. Both 'The Secret of Kells' and 'Song of the Sea' were both nominated for Oscars upon release with the latter project also picking up the 2015 IFTA for Best Film.

Michael Wilson, Managing Director, UTV Ireland, said:: “The EOY programme is highly committed to supporting and nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs and business owners in Ireland. UTV Ireland and UTV are very proud to broadcast this series, promoting that ethos, by bringing this exciting business initiative to the audience through the exclusive broadcasting of the series later this year, including the awards ceremony.”

Kevin McLoughlin, Head of the EY Entrepreneur of The Year programme commented: “We are looking forward to bringing these incredible stories of innovation and entrepreneurship to life for viewers across the island of Ireland. We believe the viewers will find the stories of our finalists, told in their own words, interesting, encouraging and uplifting, offering a great insight into the impact they are having on communities, towns and villages."

UTV Ireland is available on Sky channel 116, Saorview channel 6, UPC channel 110 and eVision channel 108. UTV Ireland also offers a catch-up service on www.utv.ie and on the UTV Player, available to download on smart devices.
