After a successful festival run in 2014 and a cinema release earlier this year, Terry McMahon’s powerful drama ‘Patrick’s Day’ is available on DVD and online now.
The film is now available to purchase in stores across Ireland including HMV, Xtravision, Tesco, Heatons, Golden Discs, Tower Records and the Irish Film Institute. It will also be available to buy online on Amazon and the Wildcard websites.
Written and directed by Terry McMahon, ‘Patrick’s Day’ stars Moe Dunford along with Kerry Fox, Catherine Walker and Philip Jackson. It centres on a young man with mental health issues (Dunford) who becomes intimate with a flight attendant (Walker) with her own demons. When his obsessive mother (Fox) finds out she enlists a dysfunctional detective (Jackson) to separate them.
After winning the SDGI Directors Finders Series last year and being the joint winner of Best Irish Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh, ‘Patrick’s Day’ set off on a very successful festival where it won awards such as the Maverick Award for Best Narrative Feature, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing at the Woodstock Film Festival and Best Actor and Best Screenplay at the Hell’s Half Mile Film and Music Festival in Michigan. It then received a cinema release earlier, being distributed by Wildcard Distribution, and garnered very positive reviews.
At this year’s IFTA Film & Drama Awards, ‘Patrick’s Day’, along with Lenny Abrahamson’s ‘Frank’, received the most nominations with nine. The film won three on the night, including Best Script for Terry McMahon, Best Actor for Moe Dunford and Best Sound for Hugh Fox, Nikki Moss and Ken Galvin.
