Adding to an already busy slate that will see him appear in upcoming James Bond film ‘Spectre’, Andrew Scott has joined the cast of feature film ‘Swallows and Amazons’ from BBC Films.
Directed by Philippa Lowthorpe, written by Andrea Gibb and adapted from Arthur Ransome’s bestselling novel of the same name, the adventure story follows four children dreaming of an escape from the tedium of a summer holiday with their mother. When finally given permission to camp on their own on a remote island in the middle of a vast lake, they are overjoyed. But when they get there they discover they may not be alone… As they battle for ownership of the island, they learn the skills of survival and the value of friendship, which helps prepare them for the real danger they must face from the adult world.
Scott will play a secret agent in the film and will star alongside Refe Spall, Kelly McDonald and Harry Enfield in the BBC Films production.
Scott has been busy shooting ‘Spectre’ over the past six months while other upcoming roles in big-budget international features include ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’ and ‘Victor Frankenstein’.
This year has also seen Scott win a British Independent Film Award for his role in British LGBT rights drama ‘Pride’ as well as picking up two nominations at this year’s IFTA Film & Drama Awards – for his supporitng role in ‘Pride’ and for his villainous turn as the menacing Moriarty in BBC’s ‘Sherlock’.
‘Swallows and Amazons’ is currently shooting in the Lake District, North West England and will shoot over the summer.
