Deadpan Pictures has announced the appointment of Shane Murphy as Head of UK Co-Production and Development.

Shane has 25 years’ experience working in various sectors of Television in the UK, Far & Middle East and US. He has worked with and for broadcasters such as Discovery Communications, Tara Television; distributors Fremantle Media, Granada International, Carlton International and overseen Commercial Affairs for producers Tiger Aspect and Leopard Films.

With Shane’s input Deadpan has put together a strong slate of comedy projects, mixing new writing talent and more experienced voices, to pitch to UK broadcasters and distributors. He has also joined comedian Ardal O’Hanlon on the Deadpan Advisory Board.

Paul Donovan, MD of Deadpan, commented: “Shane has a wealth of business expertise and is a knowledgeable comedy fan. As long as he doesn’t get the two mixed up Deadpan will benefit greatly from working with Shane.”

Shane Murphy added: “I’m very excited to be working with Paul and Ailish. They have a fantastic track record working with both writing and performing talent - from Arthur Mathews to Ardal O’Hanlon to Aisling Bea. And now that they’ve established themselves as Ireland’s go-to comedy co-producer with ‘Moone Boy’, they, like much of the Irish comedy talent, are punching above their weight. We’re putting together a very strong slate to bring to the broadcast and distribution communities in the UK and beyond.”
