26 May 2015 : Seán Brosnan
Holmes was also IFTA-nominated for his work on ‘71 starring Corey McKinley (above)
Northern Irish composer David Holmes has been awarded an Ivor Novello award for Best Original Score for his work on Belfast-set troubles drama ‘71’.

Often called the music industry's Oscars, the awards are highly prized as they are voted for by fellow songwriters, and not the public or record labels.

Fifteen Ivor Novello Awards were presented at the ceremony, which took place on at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.

Holmes work on ‘71’ was also recognized with a nomination at the recent IFTA Awards ceremony. A short film he directed entitled ‘I Am Here’ was also nominated for Best Short Film.

David is also well known for his collaborations with Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh on the Ocean’s trilogy (starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt), ‘The Girlfriend Experience’ and ‘Haywire’, the latter of which was shot in Dublin and co-starred Michael Fassbender. Other credits of Holmes includes ‘I Am Belfast’, ‘Perrier’s Bounty’, ‘Good Vibrations’ and ‘Diana’. He won an IFTA Award in 2009 for his work on Steve McQueen’s drama ‘Hunger’.
