‘Doc McStuffins’, produced by Dublin-based Animation Studio Brown Bag Films for Disney Junior, has capped off a very fruitful month by being awarded a Peabody Award for Children’s Programming.
April has also seen the show being renewed for a fourth season by Disney Junior as well as being nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Writing in a Preschool Animated Program.
The Peabody Awards, housed at University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, recognize excellence and meritorious work by radio and television stations, networks, webcasters, podcasters, producing organizations and individuals. The 18-member Peabody Board is a distinguished panel of television critics, industry practitioners and experts in culture and the arts.
‘Doc McStuffins’ was created by Chris Nee and is a Disney Junior production in conjunction with Brown Bag Films. The story follows a girl who communicates with and heals stuffed animals and broken toys out of her backyard playhouse clinic. The returning voice cast includes Laya DeLeon Hayes as Doc, Loretta Devine, Lara Jill Miller, Robbie Rist, Jess Harnell, Andre Robinson, Kimberly Brooks and Gary Anthony Williams.
The series premiered on Disney Junior on March 23, 2012 where it broke ratings records to instantly become the number one preschool show on U.S. cable television.
