A feature documentary on Grace Jones entitled ‘Grace Jones – The Musical of My Life’ is currently in development with Irish production company Blinder Films producing.
The Irish Film Board are among the financiers of the project which will be directed by acclaimed English director Sophie Fiennes – who has previously directed the 2012 documentary ‘The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology’.
The film is also financed by BBC Films and the British Film Institute (BFI) Film Fund, with Katie Holly of Blinder Films producing.
It is described by the BBC as an “observational portrait” and “a multi-narrative journey through the private and public realms of the legendary singer and performer".
Grace Jones, now 66, is a Jamaican singer, songwriter, model, record producer, and actress whose distinctive androgynous appearance, square-cut, angular padded clothing, and manner influenced the cross-dressing movement of the 1980s, and she has influenced artists such as Annie Lennox, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna.
Blinder Films are also producing the Whit Stillman directed period drama ‘Love and Friendship’ – starring Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny in the lead roles – which wrapped last month and is currently in post-production.
