The Writers Guild of Ireland have announced the nominees for the 8th Annual ZeBBie Awards, which will take place on May 20th.
The ZeBBie Awards are annual awards created by the WGI — named in honour of O. Z. Whitehead — to acknowledge the best script(s) written by Irish playwrights and screenwriters during the previous year.
The categories for the ZeBBie Awards are Best Television Script, Best Radio Script, Best Theatre Script, Best Feature Film Script, Best Short Film Script and Best Game Script.
The nominees for Best Television Script are Colin Bateman for TG4 series ‘Scúp’ (Series 2, Episode 1), Oliver Callan & James Cotter for RTÉ sketch show ‘Callan Kicks The Year’ and Stuart Carolan for the RTÉ gangster drama series ‘Love/Hate’.
The Feature Film Script category sees Brendan and Niall Heery (‘Gold’), John Michael McDonagh (‘Calvary’) and Terry McMahon (‘Patrick’s Day’) all receive nominations.
The nominees for Short Film Script are James Fitzgerald for ‘Skunky Dog’, John Kennedy & Ruairí O’Brien for ‘Cutting Grass’ and Ronan Blaney for the BAFTA winning and Oscar nominated short film ‘Boogaloo and Graham’.
The 8th annual ZeBBie Awards Ceremony, which is hosted by Senator David Norris, takes place from 8pm on Wednesday, May 20th at the Sugar Club on Leeson St in Dublin.
