TV3 has announced that it will host the 2015 IFTA Awards.
In a first for the industry, TV3 and IFTA will join forces to broadcast not one, but two events to honour and celebrate the talents of these creative industries. The IFTA Film & Drama Awards will be held on 24th May, while The IFTA Television Awards will be held later in the year in October.
TV3 will be an official media partner of the IFTA Film & Drama Awards (May 2015) and will deliver coverage of all the excitement, guests, nominees and winners at the ceremony in an exclusive one hour Awards Special. As the Ceremony will not be broadcast Live or as-live, the Awards Special will ensure that the Irish public can join in acknowledging the great work being achieved.
Later in the year TV3 will be the Official Broadcaster for the IFTA Television Awards in October and will broadcast a primetime two hour programme, featuring some of the best creative talent that Ireland has to offer and will see the introduction of some new interactive and public voting categories which have proved popular with TV3 audiences, allowing the Irish public to become more involved in the ceremony.
TV3’s stalwart entertainment magazine programme Xposé and the nation’s number one breakfast show Ireland AM, will have all the action in the run up to and around both events, including nominations, behind the scenes interviews and all the excitement from the red carpet.
Jeff Ford, TV3 Group Director of Content, said: ‘TV3 Group is delighted to become the host broadcaster of the IFTA’s. Separate shows for TV and for Film will honour the talents in each of the media appropriately. We look forward to working with broadcasters, producers and film-makers through the IFTAs to promote Irish production. As Ireland’s leader in entertainment, TV3 looks forward to broadcasting great event pieces for its viewers and we are delighted to be working with the IFTAs team.’
Aine Moriarty, CEO of IFTA, said: ‘The Academy is delighted to be working with TV3 as the Awards broadcast partner for the first time, and welcomes TV3’s enthusiasm for showcasing Irish creative talent. Having reviewed and consulted with industry and other Academies, we have split the Awards into two ceremonies to reflect Ireland’s vibrant growing industry and TV3’s support will ensure that the Irish public can join with us in acknowledging the great work being achieved.’
Further announcements around who will host the IFTA Awards ceremonies will be announced in the coming weeks.
