Principal photography is underway in the US on Irish writer/director Billy O Brien’s adaptation of Dan Wells novel ‘I Am Not A Serial Killer, which is being produced by Robbie Ryan.

IFTA winner Robbie Ryan will also serve as DoP on the film – which has received funding from the Irish Film Board and will be post-produced in Dublin-based EGG Post Production.

Production started on February 28th with Nick Ryan, Robbie Ryan, and Billy O’Brien of Floodland Pictures producing alongside The Tea Shop and Film Company’s (Tower Block) James Harris and Mark Lane.

Other than the Irish Film Board, Quickfire Films and The Fyzz Facility also provided financing. London-based sales outfit Independent is handling international sales.

Christopher Lloyd (‘Back to the Future’), Max Records (‘Where the Wild Things Are’), and Laura Fraser (‘Breaking Bad’) star in the feature, which charts the story of a teenage boy hunting for a supernatural serial killer in his snowbound Midwestern town.

Speaking to Screen International, writer/director Billy O Brien said: ‘Taking Dan Wells’ icky dark and funny novel to the big screen is like getting to play all day, and being here in Minnesota, the home of the Coens and the setting for ‘Fargo’, is inspiring us all. I have a fantastic team around me, some amazing actors, and plenty of warm clothes!’
