Pat Kenny to present ‘Out With The Old – In With The U’ on UTV Ireland on January 1st
19 Dec 2014 : Seán Brosnan
Pat Kenny will host ‘Out With The Old – In With The U’ due to air on UTV Ireland on its launch date of Thursday 1st January 2015, at 8.30pm.

This one hour special will present an outlook towards the upcoming twelve months in Ireland, with Pat travelling the length and breadth of the country, meeting with a variety of high-profile personalities, engaging with expert contributors and ‘ordinary’ people with compelling stories to tell. Amongst the well-known faces, viewers can expect to see international musician Hozier, with an exclusive performance, back stage footage and a retrospective with Pat. Entrepreneur and investor Sean O’Sullivan will also discuss his confidence in Ireland and his enthusiasm for its future.

The programme will also feature individuals who look forward to achieving extraordinary goals in 2015. From Dave Brady, the Kildare man who has his sights set on completing his 500th marathon before his 65th birthday next year, to Keith Ward, a 20 year old engineering student, designing a completely Eco Friendly car that can theoretically drive from Dublin to Galway on €1 of electricity, and Kathleen Lawlor, grandmother of ‘Love Hate’ actor Tom Vaughan Lawlor, who will celebrate her 100th birthday in 2015.

Mary Curtis, Head of Channel at UTV Ireland, said:‘Out With The Old – In With The U’ is a central element to what will be the opening chapter of this new channel’s story, delivering a sense of what the audience can expect from UTV Ireland going forward – something new and innovative with an ear to the ground, throughout all corners of the country. The show will focus on the Irish community, the stories sure to capture our hearts and the people shaping the world around us.’

‘We are absolutely delighted that Pat will be a central part of our very first day of programming. He is a seminal figure in Irish broadcasting, so it is a true honour that he will be returning to our television screens with UTV Ireland.’

Presenter Pat Kenny said:‘We have been on the road filming ‘Out With The Old – In With The U’ for the past number of weeks and it feels great to be back in front of the camera. We have captured some intriguing insights from interviewees and I think the programme really encapsulates the sentiment of the nation, right now.’

Pat will also talk to expert commentators from the UTV Ireland news team, including Economics Editor Paul Colgan, Political Editor Mary Regan and Sports Journalist Marie Crowe, offering their analysis on what they believe the pressing issues will be for the year ahead.

‘Out With The Old – In With The U’ was produced for UTV Ireland by Loosehorse Production. Cormac Hargaden, Executive Producer, said: ‘From the outset, our aim for this one-off special was extremely clear – to capitalise on Pat’s incredible and unique talent as a broadcaster, in creating a feature which was as varied, current and multi-faceted as this wonderful and dynamic country. ‘Out With The Old – In With The U’ is a celebration of Ireland and the future, and we can think of no better individual equipped to deliver this central message with such confidence, as Pat Kenny.’
