As part of a celebration for Veterans Day, Michelle Obama is screening a special episode of Brown Bag Films’ production Doc McStuffins presented in association with the Disney Channel.
The episode, called Training Army Al is military-themed and will be screened for the families of veterans in the White House on Monday November 10th 2014.
The Irish show is based on a 6-year-old “toy doctor” who care for her patients (her toys) in her clinic in her back garden playhouse. This episode reflects the emotions families face when a parent or loved one is deployed. In the episode Doc McStuffins helps her toy friends support each other and deal with the temporary yet sad loss of their friend, the soldier action figurine, Army Al when he is called to duty for a trip in the woods with a scouting troop.
Brown Bag’s Art and Episodic Director, Bronagh O’Hanlon said about the event: “Being both Irish and having a dad who’s an American Vet, I’m proud to be working on Doc McStuffins and on this episode in particular.
"It’s not often you work on a show with such a positive influence on kids, a strong female lead and important subject matters like these. Having worked with the talented McStuffins crew for six years now, the show still feels as fresh and fun to me as on the first day I started designing the characters.”
The Veterans Day episode is being aired for the public the day after, Tuesday 11th at 9.30am.
