Romantic comedy ‘What If’ is out on general release in Irish cinemas this Wednesday 20th August. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe, who was in Dublin last week for the film’s Irish premiere. Elia Kazan (‘Ruby Sparks’), Rafe Spall (‘Prometheus’), Adam Driver (‘Girls’) and Megan Park (‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’) also have starring roles.
‘What If’, originally called ‘The F Word’, follows two young people called Wallace (Redcliffe) and Chantry (Kazan) who meet at a party and are attracted to one another despite the girl having a long-term boyfriend (Spall). The pair tries their best to remain friends but Wallace’s feelings for Chantry continue to grow.
Directed by Michael Dowse (‘It’s All Gone Pete Tong’) with a script adapted by Elan Mastai, the film was shot in Toronto and in Dublin. The film was produced by David Gross, André Rouleau, Marc Stephenson and Macdara Kelleher through Fastnet Films.
Fastnet, which is owned by Kelleher, Morgan Bushe and director Lance Daly, was the production company behind popular Irish films such as ‘Kisses’, Rebecca Daly’s ‘The Other Side of Sleep’, and ‘Life’s a Breeze’. The firm will produce Daly’s next feature, ‘Mammal’, and recently co-produced Australian drama ‘Strangerland’, starring Nicole Kidman and Joseph Fiennes.
