Viewers in Northern Ireland will now be able to catch up with their favorite UTV programmes on their phone or tablet following the launch of a new UTV Player. With a contemporary, robust design, UTV’s new catch up service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and remains completely free of charge.
The new UTV Player supports desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile viewing, across Mac and PC, iOS and Android platforms to reach a wider audience.
UTV worked with leading product design agency Ostmodern to create a player which puts user satisfaction and engagement at the heart of the service and enhances UTV’s free, ad-funded proposition.
Michael Wilson, Managing Director, UTV Television said: “The latest Ofcom figures show that 45% of our audience now own a tablet. The launch of the new Player and accompanying App keeps UTV on the very devices our audience want to view UTV content.
“The Player is supported across such a range of platforms we are able to deliver great programming to viewers wherever, and whenever, they want it.”
Morgane Campioni, Director of Online Channels, UTV Television said: “Popular shows like ‘Coronation Street’, ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Lesser Spotted Ulster’ are now available to watch on the UTV Player straight after broadcast, on a large number of devices including iPads.
“We’re looking forward to the next stage of the project which will see the team develop a new Player to accompany the launch of UTV Ireland in January 2015.”
The UTV Player App for iOS and Android is available to download now from the App Store and Google Play. The UTV Player is available at player.u.tv
