The Factory Has Busy Summer Season
31 Jul 2014 :
As well as being in the process of locking down a new building, The Factory has had a number of activities this season and its alumni actors have landed impressive roles.

Recently The Factory did a special presentation at The Galway Film Fleadh where tutors Shimmy Marcus and Maureen Hughes held an Open Q&A and discussion about the evolution of The Factory and The Programme for Screen Acting. A short video presentation followed by a Q&A was attended by a healthy inquisitive crowd. The Factory was also there to support over 35 Alumni actors who had work screening in various films throughout the festival.

Additionally, the Factory’s alumni actors have been putting all their valuable training to good use and landed a number of impressive roles. Caroline Harvey has just landed a major role in Fair City while Barry Keoghan has been cast in the lead role of Rebecca Daly's new film 'Mammal' opposite Rachel Griffiths. Donal O'Healai is shooting a new feature with Brendan Gleeson called ‘Pursuit’ directed by Paul Mercier, and Peter Coonan, Colm Kenny-Vaughn and Rob Harrington are appearing in a new feature called ‘The Guarantee’ for TV3 which has begun shooting.

Patrick Gibson has just wrapped an 8 week shoot on BBC1 Drama ‘The Passing Bells’. Seana Kerslake has just been cast in the lead role of Mad Mary for Darren Thornton’s forthcoming debut feature. Nika McGuigan is about to shoot a new film by Factory tutor Cathy Brady, while Eric Lalor is making people laugh at gigs all over the place. Niamh Algar has wrapped on a new feature from Conor McMahon and the TV series Vikings, and Elva Trill has just been cast in the feature "Winnipeg" (working title).

Auditions have just concluded for next year’s Programme and The Factory will be announcing the successful candidates shortly. Recent programme graduates who have recently signed to new agents include Olivia Romao, Fionna Twamley Hewitt, Edward Laurence, Graham Dodd, and Dylan Kelly.
