The Irish Film Institute (IFI) has confirmed the dates for its 17th edition of its annual horror fest as October 23-27 2014. The IFI has also announced that it would like to invite submissions for the short film section of this year’s festival.
There is no restriction on the running time within reason, but less than 15 minutes is preferred. Submissions are free of charge and there is no screening fee offered.
Selected films will be shown as part of a dedicated short film programme during the festival. There is no competition, though there may be an audience prize for their favourite film.
Entries should include a cover note containing contact details, biographical information, synopsis, running time and other relevant details. The closing date for submissions is 5th September 2014. Online screeners are preferred – details can be sent to festival@horrorthon.com. Alternatively, screeners on DVD/Blu-ray/USB can be sent by post to:

Last year’s Horrorthon opened with ‘In Fear’ and screened over 35 shorts, classic horror films and new horrors. Films included F.W. Murnau’s classic ‘Nosferatu’, ‘Dark Touch’ starring Richard Dormer, a double bill of ‘Night of the Living Dead’ and ‘Creepshow’, cult favourite ‘Jason and the Argonauts’, Hammer classic ‘The Mummy’, and David Cronenberg’s ‘Videodrome’ among many more.
