03 Jul 2014 : Deirdre Molumby
A brand new TV series called ‘Féilte Slí an Atlantaigh’ airs on TG4 tonight. The series takes the viewer to the Wild Atlantic Way, starting its summer journey in Donegal. Síle Ní Bhraonáin presents the programme, which features sea-kayaking, traditional music and dance, local food and the breath-taking scenery that spans seven of Ireland’s counties.

Each episode of the series highlights a different Discovery Point along the route of The Wild Atlantic Way beginning with Malin Head in the Northwest and continuing to end at the Old Head of Kinsale in the ninth and final episode. The audience will meet with locals in villages and towns dotted along the coastline in the programme’s search for the best in food, music, dance and visitor attractions.

Each week will also feature a competition, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, for fantastic prizes including hotel stays, dining experiences and many of the fabulous activities that can be found along the route of The Wild Atlantic Way.

The first show will start in Malin Head and over nine weeks will travel 2500 kilometres to the Old Head of Kinsale in West Cork. Next week (Thursday 10th July), Síle Ní Bhraonáin will journey to Donegal and Sligo to present a programme that packs in an organic Seaweed bath experience, traditional music and dance, local food and the beautiful scenery of the Northwest.

‘Féilte - Slí an Atlantaigh’ is directed by Cyril O’Regan and produced by Michael Lally. Production manager for the series was Deirdre Ní Dhuinn. Camerawork was by Cyril O’Regan, Stephen Macken, Marek Wargola, Risteard Ó Domhnaill and Eoin Kelly. Sound was by Derek Recks and the series was edited by Nigel O’Regan.

The series premiere is tonight on TG4 at 8.30pm.
