Add into the mix that a certain type of personality tackles baking seriously so you also have a cast of ‘interesting’ people on screen."
The first episode of the new series will see the 12 contestants face the challenge of producing a cake that reflects their personality. Billy McGrath says that regarding the format of the second series, "we feel second time around, there will be far more focus on winning amongst the bakers. Also host Anna Nolan - with judges Biddy White Lennon and Paul Kelly - filmed the series before they saw any shows on TV, so there is no doubt such they will return to the new series wiser and more tuned into their own performance on screen which can only be positive and add again to strength of the overall production."
‘The Great Irish Bake Off’ is produced by Sideline and directed by Maurice Linnane. Gráinne O’Carroll is series producer, Ciara Bresnihan is line producer, and Billy McGrath is executive producer. Ailbhe Gaffney, Michael O’ Sullivan and Fionnuala Ní Chiobhan edited the series.
