TV3 launches its second series of the hit TV show ‘The Great Irish Bake Off’. The new series will be returning to Irish screens on Wednesday 21st May at 9pm on TV3 with 12 new passionate home bakers looking to test their skills as they battle it out to be crowned The Great Irish Bake Off’s Best Amateur Baker 2014.

Presenter Anna Nolan will return to showcase the rising talent beside with expert judges – best-selling cookery writer and baker Biddy White Lennon, and world-renowned executive pastry chef at The Merrion Hotel, Paul Kelly. From a brand new tent in Tinnakilly House, Co. Wicklow, there are more tears, triumphs and disasters than ever before as the judges don’t hold back criticism of the highly creative and competitive group of bakers.

The first series of ‘The Great Irish Bake Off’ pulled in an average share of 13.37% individual viewers weekly and had an average reach of 450,000. On the show’s popularity, Executive Producer Billy McGrath commented, "it’s compelling yet relaxing to watch and the music, style and execution of the shows are designed to offer the viewer a relaxed visual feast to go along with the brilliant cast of bakers. Add into the mix that a certain type of personality tackles baking seriously so you also have a cast of ‘interesting’ people on screen."

The first episode of the new series will see the 12 contestants face the challenge of producing a cake that reflects their personality. Billy McGrath says that regarding the format of the second series, "we feel second time around, there will be far more focus on winning amongst the bakers. Also host Anna Nolan - with judges Biddy White Lennon and Paul Kelly - filmed the series before they saw any shows on TV, so there is no doubt such they will return to the new series wiser and more tuned into their own performance on screen which can only be positive and add again to strength of the overall production."

‘The Great Irish Bake Off’ is produced by Sideline and directed by Maurice Linnane. Gráinne O’Carroll is series producer, Ciara Bresnihan is line producer, and Billy McGrath is executive producer. Ailbhe Gaffney, Michael O’ Sullivan and Fionnuala Ní Chiobhan edited the series.
