‘The Goonies’ Sequel Confirmed
The director of ‘The Goonies’, Richard Donner, has said a sequel to the cult 80’s children's adventure is in the works.

Asked if he would make another comic-book film, he said: “If you call ‘The Goonies’ a comic book – we're doing a sequel.” Prompted to reveal which stars of the original would return he replied: “Hopefully all of them.” The Steven Spielberg produced story first arrived in theatres in 1985 and featured actors Corey Feldman, Josh Brolin, Sean Astin and Jeff Cohen. Feldman still acts occasionally, Brolin and Astin retain Hollywood careers and Cohen (Chunk) is an entertainment lawyer. The original ‘Goonies’ centred on a group of Oregon pre-teens facing the loss of their homes due to the imminent building of a country club who find themselves on a hunt for pirate treasure. News of a new film by the ‘Superman’ and ‘Lethal Weapon’ director has excited fans of the hit children’s movies. They will be hoping for a new film just in time for the original’s 30th anniversary in 2015.

‘Spiderman’ Sequel Eyes up Director Drew Goddard
Sony Pictures has revealed that it is nearing a deal with Drew Goddard to direct ‘Sinister Six’, the Spider-Man spinoff for the studio.

Sony and Marvel Entertainment first revealed the ‘Sinister Six’ and ‘Venom’ projects in December, including Goddard’s attachment as a writer with an eye to direct. Both projects are being produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, and the original six villains Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman and The Vulture are set to make a return. Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods) is joined by fellow writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and Ed Solomon. Kurtzman, Orci and Pinkner are writing the screenplay for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’, with Marc Webb directing. That film will go into production next fall for release on June 10, 2016.

There is no timetable for the villain film, but this one most certainly will come out after ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’, which is set for release June 10, 2016. The Amazing Spider-Man 2, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan, is out in Irish cinemas on April 18.

Keanu Reeves Joins ‘Knock Knock’
Keanu Reeves has signed on to star in and executive produce Eli Roth's psychological thriller ‘Knock Knock’.

Reeves will take on the lead role in the film, which enters production later this month. Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel) will direct from an original screenplay he co-wrote with Nicolas Lopez and Guillermo Amoedo. Roth and Lopez will also produce with Colleen Camp, Miguel Asensio and Tim DeGraye, while Teddy Schwarzman, Peter Traynor, Larry Spiegel and Sondra Locke will executive produce with Reeves. Reeves will star as a married man who is left alone for the weekend, when two young girls (Lorenza Izzo and Ana de Armas) arrive at his home and seek to destroy his life. Ignacia Allamand (The Green Inferno) will play Reeves’ wife, while Camp (American Hustle) and Aaron Burns (Machete) will play supporting roles.

Budgeted under $10 million, filming for the movie is due to begin on April 14 in Santiago, Chile.

‘The Angriest Man in Brooklyn’ Trailer
Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Phil Alden Robinson's comedy ‘The Angriest Man in Brooklyn’, which stars Robin Williams, Mila Kunis and Peter Dinklage.

Robinson’s first film in 12 years finds Williams running around town trying to right his wrongs because a ticked off Kunis tells him that he only has 90 minutes to live after he suffers a brain aneurysm following a car accident. Trying to amend her mistake, she pursues Henry (Williams) around Brooklyn as he races to reconcile with his wife (Melissa Leo), his brother (Peter Dinklage), his son (Hamish Linklater) and his best friend (Richard Kind). Daniel Taplitz wrote the script, which is based on an Israeli comedy film called ‘The 92 Minutes of Mr. Baum’, released back in 1997.

‘The Angriest Man in Brooklyn’ is set for release on May 23, 2014. The trailer can be viewed below:
