The official trailer for ‘Jimmy’s Hall’, starring Barry Ward (‘Songs for Amy’), has been released. The film is directed by Ken Loach and written by Paul Laverty, who previously collaborated on the multi award-winning historical drama ‘The Wind that Shakes the Barley.’
Ward will be playing Jimmy Gralton, a political activist who fights against the church when they try to shut down his dance hall, in the feature. He will be joined by several other Irish cast members, among them Simone Kirby, Andrew Scott, Jim Norton, Brían F. O’Byrne and Francis Magee. Irish crew members include Art Director Stephen Daly with costume design is by Eimer Ní Mhaoldomhnaigh.
Producer Rebecca O’Brien has stated that ‘Jimmy’s Hall’ is likely to be Loach’s last feature film. She said, “This is probably the last narrative feature for Ken. There are a few documentary ideas kicking around, and that will probably be the way to go, but this is a serious period-drama with a lot of moving parts so it's a big thing to put together. I think we should go out while we're on top.”
‘Jimmy’s Hall’ is produced by Sixteen Films, Element Pictures, Why Not Productions and Wild Bunch. It received support from the Irish Film Board, BFI and Film4.
