Applications are now opened for the 19th edition of the Irish Film Board’s Frameworks animated short film scheme. Co-funded by RTE, the scheme supports animated short films. The next application deadline is midnight on Friday May 2nd 2014.
The Frameworks scheme encourages original and innovative animated new shorts from Irish filmmakers. The projects selected for funding should combine creative exploration with an ability to appeal to a general audience rather than at children.
The films submitted can be in English or in Irish, though if they are produced in Irish, subtitling will be needed for sales and submission to international festivals. Films must be 6 minutes long maximum in duration, with a maximum budget of €46,000. All forms of animation are acceptable and the short may be delivered in Digi-Beta, HD Cam and DCP.
Films that have been funded through the Frameworks scheme in the past include Oscar nominees ‘Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Give Up Yer Aul Sins’. Most recently the scheme funded the multi-award winning shorts ‘The Missing Scarf’ and ‘Irish Folk Furniture’, among the wins for them was Best Animation at the LA Shorts Fest for the former and Best Animation at Sundance for the latter.
All applications must be made through the online application system, a link for which is available here. Applications by hard copy or email will not be accepted.
