Screen Scene VFX have just released a video showcasing their incredible work on Ruairi Robinson’s upcoming horror feature, ‘The Last Days on Mars’, which hits Irish cinemas on April 11.
The film stars Liev Schrieber in a tale of astronauts sent to collect specimens on Mars who encounter a terrifying force. Other cast members include Elias Koteas (‘Shutter Island’, ‘Crash’); Romola Garai (‘One Day’, ‘Atonement’); Olivia Williams (‘An Education’, ‘The Sixth Sense’); and Tom Cullen (‘Downtown Abbey’).
A co-production between Dublin based Fantastic Films and Qwerty Films in London with Irish Film Board funding, ‘Last Days On Mars’ completed Picture post-production at Screen Scene, with Sound post production on the film carried out between Screen Scene and Ardmore Sound. The film was shot by award winning Irish cinematographer Robbie Ryan and scripted by Clive Dawson. Visual effects supervisors with Screen Scene were Adam McInnes and Ed Bruce. Music for the film was created by Max Richter.
The film premiered at the Directors Fortnight in Cannes last year, where Robinson was hailed as a director to watch and the strength of Screen Scene’s VFX work was singled out in a number of reviews.
Producers Brendan McCarthy and John McDonnell of Fantastic Films commended the director and crew on a terrific job. McDonnell told IFTN: "We are delighted to be involved with Irish Talent Ruairi Robinson's debut feature and look forward to bringing this exciting film to his home audience."
‘Last Day on Mars’ is set to be released April 11.
