Irish Actor Brian F. O’Byrne is set to feature in ABC’s drama pilot ‘Exposed’, which centres on a determined investigative reporter, Anna, who makes dubious alliances in pursuit of stories.
The Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) project is scheduled to film in Vancouver and Los Angeles after Byrne completes his stint in the Broadway show ‘Outside Mullingar’. The Tony winner is currently on stage in the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre alongside Debra Messing (Will & Grace), Peter Maloney (West Side Story) and Dearbhla Molloy (Dancing at Lughnasa) until March 16.
The project from Universal Pictures and scribe Charles Randolph (Love & Other Drugs) will be directed by Patty Jenkins (Entourage).
The Cavan born actor has appeared in films such as ‘Million Dollar Baby’, ‘The International’, ‘Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead’ and ‘Bandits’. His TV credits include ‘Love/Hate’, ‘Prime Suspect’ and ‘Flash Forward’. He was previously nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for his role as Mildred Pierce’s estranged husband Bert in the TV mini-series.
‘Exposed’ will be exec produced by Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan along with Randolph.
‘House of Cards’ actress Sandrine Holt has also been cast as the main character Anna’s managing editor. More cast members are expected to be announced soon.
As the TV pilot season heats up stateside, a host of projects are heading northwards towards Vancouver and Toronto as the Canadian dollar falls in value against the American greenback and generous tax breaks are being given. Canadian hotspots remain in constant competition with New York City and other U.S. locales to lure shoots for comedy and drama pilots that could turn into full-season orders from U.S. networks.
