Blackhorse Film Productions and Bootstrap Films Ltd have announced that shooting for the feature film ‘Spider’s Trap’ was completed yesterday. Written and directed by Alan Walsh, ‘Spider’s Trap’ was shot on location in and around Dublin, starting from 25th January of this year.

The film tells the story of a young man who wishes to put his troubled past behind him. He has a great passion for music and, at last, he gets a chance to hit the big time. However, an old friend who has recently escaped from prison and is driven by greed, drags the protagonist back to a life he thought he'd left behind. The record deal is waiting, as is a life- saving chance for him and his daughter. Will he get to sign the contract or will his worst nightmare come back to haunt him?

Director-writer Alan Walsh’s previous work includes ‘Mystic Knights’ (as 2nd unit director), directing the award winning short-film ‘What If’, and working as a stunt co-ordinator and military advisor on films including 'The Wind That Shakes The Barley’.

‘Spider’s Trap’ stars Simon Delaney (‘Roy’, ‘Alan Partridge’, ‘Delivery Man’), Sarah Carroll (‘This Must Be the Place’, ‘Love/Hate’), Liam Carney (‘The Commitments’, ‘Titanic: Blood and Steel’), Glen Baker, Alan Sherlock, Dermot Magennis, Jane Elizabeth Walsh and Aislí Morgan.

The film was produced by Walsh and Cronan Creagh with executive producer John Phelan and first AD Dara McConnell. Matt Skinner was DOP while Paul Noble was gaffer and Ray Cross worked on sound. The film will be edited by Mario Bortas.

The feature film, which was shot on Sony F3, will be delivered in black and white.

Blackhorse Film Productions & Bootstrap Films Ltd will attend the Cannes Film Festival in May this year with a view to concluding distribution discussions. The hope is to have the film ready for a premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh in July.

The two companies are currently developing a full feature version of the award winning short film, ‘What If’, starring Simon Delaney again, in association with interest from the USA.
