Irish broadcaster RTÉ has renewed its output deal with BBC Worldwide giving it access to British series including Quirke and Eastenders.
The agreement is the most recent extension of a 20-year agreement between the two broadcasters. The deal covers a wide range of genres that include drama, comedy, natural history, factual and children’s.
Dermot Horan, RTÉ’s Director of Broadcast and Acquisitions, said “This new deal, together with our existing co-production and co-funding of content with the BBC, means our relationship with the BBC is growing significantly.”
Sam Tewungwa, Commercial Director, TV and VOD sales, BBC Worldwide, stated: “It’s great to know that as a result of this deal RTÉ viewers will be able to continue to enjoy the BBC programmes they love for years to come.”
