Catch Up with Sky – new On Demand service to include 43 channels
Sky TV customers in Ireland have a lot to look forward to with the launch of a new Catch Up TV service, which was announced today in their Dublin HQ. The service includes a total of 43 Sky and non-Sky channels, including TV3 (available next week), at no extra cost.
This is all part of a wider drive by Sky to broaden distribution of its content and give customers new ways to access its programming.
JD Buckley, Sky Ireland’s Managing Director, spoke about the wide range of great TV they will be bringing to customers and said, “TV viewers across Ireland no longer need to worry about missing their favourite TV programmes, movies, sports events and news.”
As well as TV3, channels making up Sky’s 10,000 hours’ worth of TV content include 3e, Channel 4, E4, Fox, Universal and MTV. Popular TV box sets will be available such as Moone Boy, Grey’s Anatomy, The Tunnel and Desperate Housewives.
David McRedmond CEO at TV3 said, “TV3’s 3Player content is a perfect fit for Sky’s Catch Up TV service.” He also highlighted the importance for TV3 as the broadcaster focuses more and more on producing their own content “...the distribution channel becomes more relevant, as you want as many people as possible watching.”
Customers require a compatible Sky+HD box that’s connected to their broadband router. Depending on the model, this can be done through WiFi, an Ethernet cable or an On Demand Connector.
