World-Renowned Mentalist Keith Barry brings a Big Show to the Small Screen
07 Jan 2014 :
TV3’s latest offering, ‘Keith Barry: Brain Hacker’, based on shows with the Irish hypnotist-mentalist-magician in front of a live audience, will commence this Sunday at 9pm.

Over sixty crew members were involved in the production, which included both studio and location shooting. Barry worked closely with series producer and director Dara Tallon (‘Ireland AM’, ‘Tallafornia’) to make the show a reality, meeting with Tallon from November 2012. The executive producers for ‘Brain Hacker’ include TV3’s Commissioning Editor Owen McArdle, Barry himself, and long-time producer for Barry’s televised shows and TV movies, Eamonn Maguire. Andrew Gerard, Keith's longtime friend and Chief Consultant from Canada, also guided the show as Creative Producer

Tony Brady was the Studio Producer while Catherine Quinn was Production Manager for the TV3 show. The art department included Anita Barrette on set design, and Liam O’ Neill as graphics and art director, while the technical crew included sound supervisor John Mullen, editor and grader John Phillipson, senior camera Tony Burn and lighting design John McCullagh.

The six part TV series was filmed in TV3’s Sony HD studio, the largest of its kind in Ireland, built on an impressive 5000 square feet with four stages. Filmed on six studio cameras, ‘Brain Hacker’ catered for a combined studio audience of over 700 people making it the channel’s largest home-produced show to date. A number of well-known names in magic will join Keith on the show. These include Uri Geller, America’s leading Mentalist Max Maven, and the legendary grandfather of mentalism Mr. David Berglas, who Keith Barry says are ‘some of [his] personal heroes.’

Though the show was a long and challenging production, Keith Barry has expressed great enthusiasm overall for the project, stating, “This is my first Irish TV show since 2006 and I'm delighted TV3 took the leap of faith in commissioning it. The show is ground breaking for mentalism and I'm delighted with how we pushed the boundaries of possibilities... I really hope people enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.”

Keith Barry shows no sign of slowing down either as following the show’s finale, a brand new tour of the same name, ‘Brain Hacker’, will be commencing in March 2014.

‘Keith Barry: Brain Hacker’ airs Sunday 12th January at 9pm on TV3
‘Keith Barry - Brain Hacker’ will be on tour nationwide from March 12th 2014 to May 25th 2014 Deirdre Molumby
