“We decided to extend the deadline due to the holiday season,” says festival Producer, Siobhan Fanning. “We have already received an unprecedented number of film submissions but filmmakers have been asking us to give them more time seeing our original closing date was Dec 30th”. She adds, “If filmmakers miss the January 15th date, there is one more chance to apply through the Withoutabox extended mechanism that closes Jan 27th.
Inaugurated in 2003 to honor those filmmakers whose work constitutes celebrating the very best of Ireland and the Irish on screen – past, present and future, film submissions to the festival films will be received in the following categories: Best Breakthrough Feature, Most Inspiring Best Short/Animation, & The Global Vision Best Documentary.
One of the “Top 20 Coolest Film Festivals” worldwide according to MovieMaker Magazine, the festival has screened over four hundred and fifty Irish films in Boston including highly acclaimed films such as ‘In America’, ‘Intermission’ and ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’ and ‘Once’.
