Dubin-based company Monster Entertainment have recently made a number of international sales with their ongoing 'I'm A...' animated series.
In the wake of recent screenings at MIP Junior - the children's entertainment wing of MIPCOM, the annual trade event that runs in conjunction with Cannes Film Festival, Monster Entertainment have sold the rights for the four current instalments of their "I'm A..." series to UK buyers.
'I'm A Dinosaur' and 'I'm A Creepy Crawly' have been sold to CSC channel Tiny Pop, while the rights for 'I'm A Monster' have been secured by BBC Alba, the Scottish Gaelic language subsidiary of the British Broadcasting Corporation. The first the series, 'I'm An Animal', is currently under licence to Nickelodeon.
Further international sales include 'I'm An Animal' being licensed to South Korea broadcaster United Media, while Norwegian Airlines have snapped up the rights to further episodes of 'I'm An Animal', 'I'm A Creepy Crawly' and 'I'm A Dinosaur'. This news comes after the previous announcement that 'I'm A Creepy Crawly' will also feature on BBC Australia and Al Jazeera.
The 'I'm A..' series format focuses on various creatures who introduce themselves and the worlds they live in. With the rights to the four existing instalments now sold to over 150 countries, a fifth is currently in development under the title "I'm A Fish".
The various sales of Monster's 'I'm A..' format can be viewed as a capstone to what was a successful MIP Junior for the company, having seen the Lindsay J. Sedgwick show 'Punky' sell to Al Jazeera and CSC Media Group.
The success of the 'I'm A...' series is set to extend to other media in the near future, with 'I'm A Creepy Crawly' already licensed for development as a mobile app, to be released on both Android and IOS.
