'Somebody's There', a low-budget feature from Irish production company Hood Up Films, has been picked for distribution by L..A.-based Pop Twist Entertainment, Inc.
Currently in post-production, 'Somebody's There' is a horror tale based around seven friends who head out to the isolated west of Ireland to honour the anniversary of a close friend, one year dead.
Stumbling upon a bloodied and beaten man who claims his girlfriend was kidnapped by masked men, the group is divided and stranded as they search for the perpetrators. Though isolated, they are soon to realize that they are certainly not alone. Production took place in Connemara, Co. Galway.
Directed by Stephen Patrick Kenny ('The Psycho', 'Curse of the Banshee'), 'Somebody's There' stars Tom Ward ('Love/Hate'), Mark Hutchinson ('Twentieth Hour') and Ollie Keogh ('The Street'), all having worked with Kenny on previous projects. Marius Puodziunas acts as D.O.P., with music by Kerry Whitehouse, SFX by John Berry and editing carried out by Phinit Fakphrai.
Speaking to IFTN, the film's writer/director Stephen Patrick Kenny compared the feature to "a Blair Witch Project meets 'Deliverance'".
’We put in a lot of hard work, actually close to 18 months, and I'm very happy for the cast and crew as I know how much this means to them - for a few this will be the first film that will have distributed. I talked to the CEO of Pop Twist Doug Zwick and he is very intrigued to what we have done and the setting of course being in the beautiful Connemara."
Though Kenny hinted at a sequel, Irish audiences will have to wait to see the film yet, with Pop Twist's further distribution plans for an Irish, U.S. and European release yet to be announced.
