Independent Irish feature 'The Nixer', a crime thriller about two petty Irish criminals tired of living on the breadline, will receive its North American release tomorrow, November 1st.
A gritty urban drama set on the north side of Dublin city, 'The Nixer' received its worldwide premiere at the Mexico International Film Festival in 2012, and screened for its Irish debut in September of the same year.
The U.S. release will see the film adopt an alternative approach to distribution, becoming available on various video-on-demand platforms such as Vudu, Hoopla, FlixFling and Amazon Instant Video, with further platforms becoming available in the new year.
Written and directed by DIT and NUIM graduate Fiona Graham, 'The Nixer' follows childhood friends turned crooks Michael and Daniel. In thrall to local crime lord Tony Gallagher (Michael O' Flaherty, 'Dark By Noon'), the duo attempt to get out from under his thumb and strike off on their own, with brutal consequences.
'The Nixer' boasts an experienced cast, led by Raymond S. Kinsella ('Prodigal Son', 'Prey') and Robert O' Connor ('The Method', 'Portrait of a Zombie') as Daniel and Michael respectively.
The film is produced by Lisa McNamee of Guerilla 12 Productions, with Tony Graham and director Fiona Graham acting as executive producers. Location management was carried out by Marie Caffrey, who also produced award-winning Irish web-series 'Cuckoo'.
