Irish actress Amy Huberman has been cast in the forthcoming “Ghosthunters: On Icy Trails”, which began principal photography in Vienna, Austria last week.
Adapted from a children’s novel by Cornelia Funke, the film is a co-production between German company Lucky Bird Pictures and Dublin-based Ripple World, alongside the German wing of Warner Bros. Film Production. Shooting is set to continue in Vienna for two weeks before moving to Munich and Northrhine-Westphalia, Germany, with a spring 2015 release in mind.
Huberman will play Emily, a receptionist at the Central Ghosthunting Institute, in her first role since her return to acting following the birth of her first child. Though her Comedy Central series ‘Threesome’ was not re-commissioned for a third season, Irish audiences will next see Huberman on-screen as an eccentric art teacher in season two of the acclaimed ‘Moone Boy’, produced by Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow Productions and Grand Pictures, starring Chris O’ Dowd. Ms. Huberman will also appear in John Butler’s upcoming comedy ‘The Stag’, which is currently touring the international festival circuit.
The actress previously won acclaim for her role alongside Martin Sheen in ‘Stella Days’, as well as garnering an IFTA award for Best Actress in a Film for her leading part in P.J. Dillion’s ‘Rewind’ (2010).
‘Ghosthunters’ is partly-funded by the Irish Film Board and will avail of Section 481 tax incentives, with visual effects to be done in Egg Post-Production Dublin. The film will be directed by Tobi Baumann (‘Der Wixxer’, ‘Ladyland’) and will star German comedian Anke Engelke and British newcomer Milo Parker.
