Following on from the success of previous years - which saw them host ‘Breaking Bad’ creator Vince Gilligan and ‘Game of Thrones’ screenwriter Bryan Cogman – Galway Film Centre will once again return to Galway’s Harbour Hotel on the 17th and 18th of October for their ‘Talking TV Drama’ seminar.
Guests this year include the creative team behind ‘Love/Hate’ and actor Tom Vaughn Lawlor, who plays Nidge on the show. Oscar-nominated screenwriter Tom Bidwell and ‘Skins’ creator Bryan Elsley will fill out a panel on writing for younger audiences, while the writers and creators behind the upcoming RTÉ drama ‘Amber’ will share notes from behind the scenes.
The guest of honour this year will be screenwriter and showrunner Frank Spotnitz, perhaps best-known for his prolific stint on ‘The X-Files’ where he wrote or co-wrote 40 episodes of the hit show. Spotnitz is currently writing an adaptation of Philip K Dick’s ‘The Man in the High Castle’ for Ridley Scott.
Short interviews with all panellists can be found on the Galway Film Centre website.
In anticipation of the event, Galway Film Centre is offering two tickets to the entire two-day event – all applicants need do is like the Galway Film Centre Facebook page and answer this question:
In his interview with Galway Film Centre, who did Frank Spotnitz identify as his favourite TV character?
Answers can be sent to info@galwayfilmcentre.ie and the closing date is noon on Friday the 11th of October (tomorrow).
