Irish Film New York (IFNY) has announced the programme for its third Irish film festival this 4 to 6th October.
This year’s line-up includes screenings of Steph Green’s ‘Run & Jump’, winner of Best Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh; the documentary ‘When Ali Came to Ireland’; and ‘The Hardy Bucks’ movie.
The festival will also hold a panel event offering advice to Irish filmmakers shooting in the US covering topics such as investing in Irish films shooting in the US and how to become a shareholder in an independent Irish film.
Panelists include Limerick-born vice president of Pinewood Studios (USA) Eoin Egan; Oscar-winning producer Gigi Dement; Jonathan Gray of entertainment law firm Gray Krauss Stratford Des Rochers LLP (‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’, ‘Black Swan’); and Constance McFeeley, senior project manager of the New York tax incentive program for movie and TV development.
IFNY’ Niall McKay said: ‘For many years US filmmakers have been traveling to Ireland to make their films and now Irish filmmakers are looking to come to what they see as Ireland's second capital—New York—to tell the many stories of the Irish in America.
IFNY will host a panel advising business people on how they might invest in this new breed of Irish, American, and Irish-American stories.’
Other titles set to screen during the festival are Pat Collins’ ‘Silence’, Mark O’Connor’s ‘King of the Travellers’; and Paul Kennedy’s ‘Made in Belfast’.
