‘A Belfast Story’, starring Colm Meaney as a detective investigating a series of murders connected to the Troubles, will be released by Kaleidoscope Entertainment in Irish and UK cinemas on 20th September.
First-time director and writer Nathan Todd is a former engineering student at Queen's University and his father John Todd, originally from Portadown, produced the film through production company Adnuco, which is based in California.
The film is edited by Hollywood veteran John Wright who worked on blockbusters such as ‘Die Hard: With a Vengeance’, ‘Speed’, ‘Last Action Hero’ and ‘X-Men’.
The plot of ’A Belfast Story’ follows Meaney's character, a weary detective, as he investigates the murders of former paramilitaries, in a post-Troubles Belfast which is still marred by violence.
Colm Meaney has been nominated for four Best Actor IFTA awards and won in 2003 for his performance in the feature film ‘How Harry Became a Tree’.
He was nominated for a Golden Globe award for his performance in the 1993 comedy ‘The Snapper’.
Meaney recently starred in ‘Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa’ helmed by Irish director Declan Lowney.
The film also stars Irish actors Malcolm Sinclair, Tommy O'Neill, Tim McGarry, Stuart Graham, Patrick Buchanan and Maggie Cronin.
