Eve Hewson, Irish actress and daughter of Bono and Ali Hewson, is set to appear alongside Clive Owen in Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh’s new ten-part series ‘The Knick’, set in New York’s Knickerbocker hospital in the year 1900.
Ms Hewson’s most high profile role to date was in ‘This Must be The Place’, starring Sean Penn and Frances McDormand, which was shot in Dublin.
She also has upcoming parts in ‘Blood Ties’, also featuring Clive Owen, and romantic comedy ‘Enough Said’ starring the late ‘Sopranos’ star James Gandolfini.
‘The Knick’ follows the doctors, nurses and staff of the Knickerbocker Hospital in early 20th century New York, as they struggle during a time of high mortality rates and no antibiotics.
Ms Hewson will play a character called Lucy described as a ‘young, naïve nurse from the South’, according to Deadline.com
Soderbergh, who won the Oscar for Best director for ‘Traffic’ in 2000, will direct and executive produce all ten episodes for Cinemax.
Among his many directing credits are ‘Erin Brockovich’, ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ and its sequels, ‘Magic Mike’, ‘Side Effects’ and ‘Che: Parts One and Two’.
Other cast members joining ‘The Knick’ include Michael Angarano (‘Almost Famous’), Andre Holland (‘Bride Wars’) and Juliet Rylance (‘Frances Ha’).
‘The Knick’ will begin shooting in New York at the end of September.
