Belfast-based Causeway Pictures, headed by Chris Patterson and Paddy McCarney, has signed on to co-produce a new Dark Horse Comics horror film adaptation with Spygirl Pictures, which will begin filming in Northern Ireland in Spring 2014.
‘Flesh Feast of the Devil Doll’, written by acclaimed graphic novel author Alex de Campi, will focus on a group of teenage girls at a summer camp who find themselves battling for their lives against an ancient demon and her army of the dead.
Chris Patterson, CEO of Causeway Pictures, said: ‘Since our first meetings at Cannes, we have been very excited about ‘Devil Doll’. Alex De Campi has written a fantastic story, which makes a great graphic novel and will look superb on the big screen. We are proud to be part of that journey.’
Alex de Campi was previously nominated for an Eisner comic industry award for ‘Smoke’ and has a background in directing music videos.
Kat Green, Founder of Spygirl Pictures, added: ‘We're really excited to be working with the Causeway team, and Alex de Campi is easily one of the most talented people we've ever worked with. It's an amazing group of talented people with a good sense of humour, and an incredibly fun, visual story.’
Causeway Pictures recently wrapped filming on Indian blockbuster ‘1 Nenokkadine' and specialises in genre-driven material including ‘Vampires Vs Leprechauns’ and ‘DEADlocked’.
